Hello, I’m Yelena
I care deeply about people and the planet. As a herbalist and psychedelic practitioner, I have an ever-deepening connection to plant medicines and support others to develop their own relationships with these ancient medicines. I’ve witnessed time and again how working intentionally with plants can be a potent catalyst for personal and societal transformation. The foundations of my practice include training as a psychedelic guide in Oaxaca, Mexico, my training as herbalist, and a Jikiden Reiki certification.
A core value in my work is that healing requires slowing down. In our busy world, with its focus on quick fixes, this can be challenging. But the truth is that genuine healing and transformation happen gradually; there are no shortcuts or silver bullets. Working intentionally with plant medicines requires patience, curiosity, and commitment. But the rewards are profound.
Before dedicating myself to working with plants, I channeled my care for people and the earth into public service. I studied a Master of Public Policy at Oxford, International Relations at Brown University and worked in government, advocacy, and public sector consulting.
I’m of West African + North American heritage and was raised in the tiny kingdom of eSwatini. I am based in Sydney, Australia but also work in the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as remotely.
Current Explorations
I’m constantly seeking to deepen my knowledge of holistic healing modalities. Alongside my 1-1 work with clients, I am also engaged in the following trainings + projects:
The Way of the Herbalist training with Lily of the Herbs
A Year with the Plants with The Wealthy Herbalist
A course on Ethical Psychedelic Care with the Synthesis Institute
Ancestral Lineage Healing course with Ancestral Medicine
Engaging with fellow plant medicine practitioners in a peer circle
Deepening my knowledge of the fertility awareness method + the menstrual cycle with the support of Isobel Ripley (A Better World to Bleed In)
The plants I’m currently working with personally include vitex agnus castus (to ease PMS), nettle (for allergies), damiana, rose, and blue lotus (as a herbal smoke for introspection and lucid dreaming).
If any of these explorations spark your interest, please get in touch. I love connecting with people who are interested in holistic healing, whether this interest is nascent or more developed. Write to me at: hello@thepsychedelicherbalist.com.au
